It's another 5-Minute Friday over at The Gypsy Mama.
The prompt this weeks is Full.
When I think about being full, I think about being filled with the fruit of the Spirit. Am I full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? Unfortunately the answer is no...at least not all the time. It can be a daily struggle to feel joy in difficult circumstances; to feel peace when you are unsure about the future; and to feel kind when people are not kind to you.
I am striving to apply these characteristics to my life. It is not easy since they all go against what I naturally want to do. And when I fall short I get back up and try again. It is something I must choose to do daily.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22
Your face and blog are new to me, so it is a pleasure to find you through Lisa-Jo's wonderful weekly invitation. This is such a lovely first impression to write about to this prompt - take heart from the fact that THIS is the first thing that springs to your mind from the word 'full.' Your sincere desire to reflect the radiance of Jesus shines off the page here - thank you for that. And blessings on this journey of married life which you are just beginning - we've been at it for over 45 years and it's still joyful, still challenging, still amazing. (I am right after you in the list at http://drgtjustwondering.blogspot.com)
ReplyDeleteThis is a good reminder for us all to keep striving to be more like Christ. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteoh the striving... oh to be more like HIM and less of me. Amen.

Here's my first stab at this writing exercise: <3
It was my first stab at it over at Ordinary Inspirations: http://www.ordinaryinspirations.blogspot.com
Diana is right. Christ in you comes out when your first thought is reflecting Jesus. It is a journey and we grow daily. No one is perfect or we would already be in heaven. Continue in the Word and think on these things, Philippians 4:8 and you will obtain Gal 5:22
